Majestic Project In Kuwait

Kuwait

Close to Kuwait International Airport is the distinctive VVIP Amiri Terminal Building, which houses the private offices of Kuwait’s head of state, its Emir.

Inside the offices, Kuwait-based integrator, SMARTENTITY, has completed the design and installation of a technically sound turnkey project using Crestron DigitalMedia™ that encompasses the control of the lighting, HVAC and all AV sources.

With its majestic gold cladding and pyramid-cum-dome structure, the VVIP structure is hugely impactful on the Kuwaiti skyline.

In the office and dining areas, interiors are warm, classic wood surfaces with gold-trim, and patterned marble floors that befit the work of Emir Sabah IV and the executives of the Council of Ministers General Secretariat and the state ministers.

“The brief we received called for an efficient AV system that would incorporate environmental controls in the dining and meeting rooms,” says Chadi Kfoury, CEO and Founder of SMARTENTITY.

“Although the system we designed is complex behind the scenes, the client facing end is extremely robust, easy to use and maintain, and above all else, reliable; the Crestron elements of the design are all crucial in meeting these goals.”

In the shared areas and corridors the building has been fitted with occupancy sensors which feed directly to the lighting system.

With these in place, wasted light and energy is kept to a minimum.

This setup also keeps the amount of wall switches down to preserve the integrity of the décor.

Meeting rooms are equipped with a single preset that is programmed to keep the operation of the system as simple as possible.

For presentations a single press on the touch screen will dim the lighting to 65%, the projector switches on whilst the screen simultaneously lowers, and as the projector lift drops, the automated blinds also close.

Completing the AV installation in the meeting rooms and dining room are controls for the input sources (Blu-ray, Apple TV, VC, projectors and LED displays) which are all controlled and networked using Crestron DigitalMedia™.

With the brief fully realised, the installation at VVIP has been extremely well received and the beauty of this system is its simplicity.

The lighting, heating, cooling and AV sources are handled seamlessly which allows the Emir and his staff the freedom to conduct their work without interference.

With confidence in the system being a priority form the start, the successful delivery of this maximises productivity with a system that simultaneously works to minimise wasted energy usage.

“THE BRIEF WE RECEIVED CALLED FOR AN EFFICIENT AV SYSTEM THAT WOULD INCORPORATE ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS IN THE DINING AND MEETING ROOMS.”
